Got a chance to play with one of these for a bit today. Very impressive. Sounds like the solution to a Church install I've been working on. Certainly can't recommend SAC anymore - not willing to be the support person, or tell people they're stupid because they break something.

At less than 3K, it looks like a good deal. I only hope it's more reliable than their other products.

Used one of these for a show the other night. Have to say, I'm impressed with how intuitive it is. By the time I was in to the show, I didn't even realize it was my first time mixing on the desk.

It was fast and responsive. Navigating between layers was fast - never got lost, even when having to make aux-send changes for effects on the fly. Didn't get into scenes, but there were a lot of on-the-fly changes (tons of scripted small performances for a school deal). Never felt like I was fighting the board to get things done - just felt like a well worn tool. Exactly like a desk should.

Didn't try the "drop it off the truck deck" test though

Yes, absolutely. Honestly, I think the LS9/M7CL preamps are among the worst I've ever heard.

Probably unless you go back to something like the ProMix 01, but it's hard to know if it's the preamps in that desk or just the desk itself. The 01V doesn't sound all that great either, but the 01V96 sounds better as it's more akin to a DM series. Hopefully the CL series sound better than the M7 or LS9.

They certainly do. Not saying much though since pretty much every digital desk currently available sounds better than those two.
http://softwareaudioconsole.wikidot.com The start of a wiki. It's slow going and there's a ton of info that should be in there yet.
Biggest item is the Command Reference on how to do most actions within SAC. It's 90% of what you need for UI proficiency.

it's not sayin squat but i see those on riders and in the trailers
of the bands i "deal with" so my view is
if i can sound better than that i'm golden

i do that now with my sac rig

actually
sad but true
with rare exception i probably have the most
discerning ear in the house at gigs i do 8-)

i raised my rates today and my
bigest client didn balk so i guess i'm gettin some more hardware in '13...
