I got a new x32 at one of my house gigs a few weeks back and it looks like Behringer is switching things up a bit.

Firstly, they included an actual paperback manual and the second thing I noticed imedualte is that the fader caps have changed.

Maybe they have fixed the band poping issue that I have run into a few times on the x32?
When I came home late last night.....
The wife left a note on the fridge:
"It's not working, I can't take it anymore!!
Gone to stay with my Mother."
I opened the fridge, the light came on, and the beer was cold.........
What the hell is she talking about??????

Are you saying the X32s have not had a printed manual in the past? Or Behringer gear in general. If you're saying the later, I've always thought they had decent documentation. Nothing stellar, just decent. They sure beat a lot of others out there. Although that is one thing that Yamaha does really well is documentation. They must have a huge department that does nothing but that.

Yep, the fist 4 I had didn't come with any printed documentation at all. They have also had issues with fader bands poping off if someone inadvertantly fights a flip, so I'm hoping that the new fader caps equates to some sort of fix for that issue as it's kind of a drag.

Maybe it's only Canadian Documentation that was missing? We have to have both French and English here.

i did the first show on mine last nite.

a gig i'v probably done 65 times and a band i'v mixed ~200 times

i used the s16's adat split to do monitors on SAC

the desk is absolutely 'walk up' if you have any time on a digital surface

everyone of my musos and a large percentage of 'regulars'
commented on the clarity and warmth
and it's been a month since we were in there

i still have not found the proper adjective to describe the difference

i'v always been VERY happy with the way my sac rig sounds
running ada8k's but the 'midas' pre's are really nice

even more 'analogue' sounding if that's possible

i didn have a giant budget
and you can definitely call this goin cheap
but i am completely satisfied

if it still works in a year i'd buy another one...

I just made this point on another forum as well.

The graphs in the FX rack on the x32 work in .5dB steps - 2 steps per db. The parametrics are a little better at .25dB per step.

Nothing stellar about that at all.

Considering most people can't detect 1db changes unless trained to, .5db resolution for what I'd typically assign to quick feedback notching and .25db steps for what I'd typically use for tone shaping seems pretty usable to me.

Biggest item is the Command Reference on how to do most actions within SAC. It's 90% of what you need for UI proficiency.

Try this:

http://www.audiocheck.net/blindtests_level.php?trial1=1&trial5=1&trial7=1&trial10=1&trial2=2&trial4=2&trial9=2&trial3=3&trial6=3&trial8=3&valide=Submit

I scored 60% at 0.2dB, which they say is better than guessing. Mind you I did the test using studio monitors, it would be different in a noisy room with a PA.

The 1dB jump is blatently obvious.

True but how many people ease through using even an analog graphic so it's less obvious that you just pulled out 300hz by 6db? How many people would even notice other than maybe a slight ring goes away? And does it really matter if there's .3db too much or too little of a certain frequency in the room or a wedge? Will the artist or crowd really look at you and say, "I can't stand it? Get it right or go home?" Don't forget it's a live performance not the studio album. Perfection will not be found there, but the good news is the event and emotional impact of the entire package is what builds people's memories. Sound that's even 90% of the way there may very well contribute to the most awesome event ever in someone's mind. When people complain about a live mix it usually does really suck or the engineer was so stuck on the sound of the trombone eq they didn't notice the lead vocal getting buried in the mix.
