The director/designer was cool. It was the technology getting in our way.
Using a conventional dimmer rack for the big trees (48 channels of 2400W each) to drive LED strings that barely pulled a watt gave us all kinds of problems. They just can't fade right when there's not enough load on them. As you can see, I managed to fix the problem with some hardware changes so they can fade smoothly through the bands. Had the same issue on the small trees, even though those 1200W/ch dimmers were made for LEDs. It was a very long install!
