I wonder if the B52s use a B52 on their kick drum.....

says the guys that just uses whatever kick drum mic is around and makes it sound good.... actually sometimes I'm lucky if they have a real kick mic at all...

When I came home late last night.....
The wife left a note on the fridge:
"It's not working, I can't take it anymore!!
Gone to stay with my Mother."
I opened the fridge, the light came on, and the beer was cold.........
What the hell is she talking about??????

I bought a copy direct from Centipeak about 3 weeks ago. You can email Johan and set up a direct payment with him. It is true...it is not available to the general public.

From a camera aparently sitting next to me at FOH - camera audio.
B52 on all kicks (most are not used except for accents). Mixed on a 5D, so no special plugins or anything.

Well, I get one, just not allways the one I want ;)

Here's an example http://soundcloud.com/andy-hamm/the-ocean.

This is recorded at one of my House Gigs using an x32 and of course we have a B-52 in the kick. It works for the Bohnam type kick, but I have band 3 cranked at 5K to get that!!! I can wander around and grab some chalky top end around 2K, but It's not the sound I'm after at all. So this is the kick sound I usually end up with using the B-52, I get by with it, but it's definately not my first choice for a kick mic.

I've been using a Heil PR48 with a Shure Beta91 with good results.

Ran across this thread while searching for something else. I've been meaning to try this with SAC, haven't yet but if there is a compatible IR plugin available it may be possible to add a second channel with a Kick IR. I've used Impluse Responses a good bit with the AxeFX guitar rig, there are IR's available for various cabs & speakers but also some that can make an electric sound like an acoustic. Because it is not a triggered sample, it has a natural and dynamic feel.

By accident one day, playing with Cakewalk's built-in IR plug, I loaded up what I thought was a kick drum reverb IR and ran a kick drum track through it. It was actually an IR of a drum, not reverb, and suddenly I had this huge kick sound. IIRC the plug in had a mix control, so might be possible to use in a single SAC channel.

Cakewalk's Perfect Space is just a rebadged version of the Voxengo IR Verb plug in. I am pretty sure it induces at least some latency. Although I know you can adjust it, I don't think it's possible to set it to zero. But I'm not sure if I ever tried to do that. Anyway if it has latency, SAC will disable it.
