Behringer Engineer in the ADA8200 thread...

Postby Paul Henry » Tue Sep 03, 2013 8:36 am

Seems a Music Group ( Behringer ) senior system engineer has chimed in on the ADA8200 thread on the other forum, he's asking for input and feedback about identifying and fixing the specific problems with the ADA8xxx line.

I would have thought if you design, build and sell a product like the ADA8200, you'd get yourself a few of the products that it is typically used with and see if it works as intended. The Motu units are not rare out there. Seems a bit strange to first sell the unit, hear it does not work properly in a pretty common setup, then ask the public to come up with more detailed description of what's happening

My problem with the 8200 isn't the MOTU clocking problem, however. Mine looks more like a QA issue.

How can that be? They build it themselves in their own factory and have a 3 year warranty. They have Midas preamps. It MUST work. :D

Geez. The public is the beta tester. Reminds me of the 80s.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people ignore the historical facts about Behringer gear, and then whine when the shit doesn't work. Everyone here knows about the ridiculous 25-100% failure rate among folks on this and the other forum that have owned two or three ADA8000. Dealers lurking around here have reported up to 40% returns. Now, the first 8200 acquisition within the group failed on arrival. They are BANNED on many artist riders for this reason. It's not that they don't sound OK, it's because they FAIL CONSTANTLY BECAUSE THE BEHRINGER BUSINESS MODEL IS TO BUILD AN INEXPENSIVE PIECE OF SHIT AND SELL TO THOSE AT THE LOWEST END OF THE SPECTRUM WHO DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER.

Good grief people. Next you'll be telling me how a SAC rig is better than a $100,000 console. Oh wait, that's the owner who shares the Behringer business model and a handful of lemmings who have never used anything else.

In the rite hands a SAC system CAN sound as good as any console and YES I have mixed on just about everything
If you really want to talk about BAD consoles try an M7 they seem to sound like you left the packing blanket on the speakers

Now I am ducking and running

The point is the failure rate of the Behringer gear. I don't think M7CLs fail at nearly the rate of ADA8000s.

I think the comparisons are fair. The failure rate I've had in SAC have been as bad as with Behringer.
I don't know of any other desk I've crashed by twisting the knobs too fast.

... and external word clock is the blanket remover for the M7. Still don't sound great, but a LOT better!
I get to go from an M7 tomorrow to an XL8 Saturday. Wonder if I'll notice any difference?
