Retro gear can be cool and fun.

Thinking you're cool because you've assembled a PIV is just plain foolish. Especially since for the same prices he is spending he could probably have built himself a cheap Core 2 Duo. Or very close to the same price. Hell I just picked up 2 Lenovo Core 2 Duo tower with 4GB of RAM and no hard drives for $75 a piece plus shipping. Add a hard drive and sound card... done. They already had a Vista Buisness COA on the case, so I used those and MS was happy. I already had a couple of hard drives since I upgraded a couple of machines to SSDs recently. So for less than $100 each, I got two extra computers that I can use for sound playback, SAC remotes, plug-in hosts, virtual live synths, etc...

Either of these machines will beat the pants off his lame PIV.

If using retro comptuers was cool, you'd see articles about folks buying up Atari and Amiga machines and maybe some really old Apples in the trade rags. I've sure there is some wingnut someplace doing just that. But I can't believe it will ever have the luster of using old analog outboard gear. Also it's worth noting for every piece of "retro" or "vintage" gear that is really sought after, there was probably 100 other models of gear that are deemed worthless.

Damn, I only figured out what DAW #1 was. Hidden in the file header information perhaps?

#1 was stupid easy to figure out by the way... just look at the Broadcast Wave properties. Created by an industry standard. Opppss... spoiler alert....

A forum is representative of it's user base. To the audio community ... or at least those who manage to find that forum ... SAW/SAC must appear to have the stupidest, most amateur and least experienced user base on the planet earth. What is even more sad is those experienced guys who actually try to set the idiots straight only to be met with the reality of deeper ineptness.
