Bad Mackie Control Template Thread

Postby randyhyde » Wed Feb 05, 2014 4:16 pm

Interesting in the other forum that Bob is more interested in claiming that things work fine on his end rather than being concerned about tracking down a defect. It very *well* could be operator error, to be honest, but anything that crashes SAC, even if the user is operating it in a way it is not intended to be operated, should be seriously looked at.

While having a workaround is great and allows the show to go on, if I were Bob I'd be all over this because the bug that freaks out one unusual system is likely to impact other system (if not in the same way). Of course, I'm a bit concerned with all this because I use the Mackie templates all the time (though I admit that I haven't used them since 3.1 came out).
Cheers,
Randy Hyde

This isn't a new bug. Anything that sends Midi data that he isn't expecting will completely crash the system. It was responsible for one of my show-stoppers when a MIDI cable was sending intermittant data. It all goes back to the non-validation of any data coming into the system. It's all part of my assertion that he writes crappy code.

I reported that years ago, and as usual, someone else is now hitting it. They will be chastised like I usually was until either they go away, or more people start having the issue. A year later, there will be a patch for it - although now with the changes, good luck with that.
