Profire 2626

Postby gdougherty » Thu Jul 12, 2012 11:21 am

Probably due to Avid's divestment of M-Audio the Profire 2626 is on a steep discount at several online retailers. Perfect timing for me since I've been looking to upgrade my ADA's and needed to pick up a handful of them ASAP. Down to $400 from an average selling price about $700.

Wow .. That's what I've been paying used for them. That's great to know ... got to expand a yamaha system, and I'd rather use those than behringers.

Yeah, had to double check a bunch of places and make sure it wasn't all c/d stock or used. Music 123 and b&h both listed new on sale. Can't say how incredibly stoked I am to be all Profire on my two rigs and get all the behringer gear out of the racks. No failures yet, but it'll help eliminate the initial sneers I get from a lot of the pro engineers I work with. May also have to play with a master clock for my 24 channel rack and see if it makes any difference over the Profire clock.

Wow. I bought 2 profiles last year from guitar center for 500 a piece. I've never seen them sell for over 500.

Not sure where you're looking then. Average advertised new unit pricing has been $650-$699 for as long as I can remember and I've owned a Profire 2626 for about 4-5 years now.

I paid $552 ea. new for mine... most audio gear can be had for significantly less than MAP if you shop at the right places.

Very, $550 is my typical quote when I check on them. $399.99 is still a good $150 drop and almost makes it the equivalent of buy 2 get one free based on old pricing.

Checking specs on the Profire vs ADA8000. Not only are the outputs cleaner, but they're about 4db hotter before clipping. Won't be any gain for me in most situations since I'm already using the Profires for my outs, but it may help give a little more headroom for those that push their outputs hard.

$400 is what a Presonus D8 costs new most places, unless you shop around or haggle. So that's a great deal in my book.

Thanks for sharing....
