Didn't read the article you were linking to, but they are selling M Audio to the parent company of Alesis. They are also divesting themselves of the video editing business to Corel. Ironically, Avid (the video editing software and hardware company) purchased Digidesign several years ago and very slowly rebranded Digi as Avid. Now all that will be left is what was known as Digidesign.

I don't think it's their video editing business they've sold. Media composer, the big boys' tool, remains avid. Avid studio, which was formerly pinnacle, has been sold to Corel.

I heard an announcement at an "engineer's meeting" earlier this week. I may have misunderstood.

The comments at the table were "oh no, now Avid and PT will never integrate properly". So hopefully the effort to integrate better with Media Composer will continue. Something to do with conforming EDL's.

If you read the article it's only selling it's "consumer" products off. So I guess it considered M-Audio as consumer level gear. :)

Anyway, it's only getting rid of some of the lower end video editing products, in this case it really is mostly consumer grade products. It's still in the video NLE buisness, don't worry.
