AMP in the Real World

Postby jlepore » Mon Aug 11, 2014 12:23 am

Had the chance to play with AMP for the past 4 days with real inputs.

It performed very well. Only 1 slipped buffer while running at 64x0 on MOTU in 48 SHOW hours. It sounded great. It was nice monitoring through it - not having all that latency of SAC was a nice change.

Well if Joe is using it in the real world and didn't break it... I would say it's at least pretty close.

ok .. it's a great product with HUGE potential.

Is it ready out of the box yet? no.
Is it getting close? yes.
Will it kick SAC's ass 10 ways from sunday? YES.

It already sounds better, uses less resources, has a higher channel count, and the latency is fast enough to sound analog (on the same hardware).
Control surface mapping is great, as is screen customization.

The biggest problem: keeping up on all the updates - something we never had to worry about with SAC

Very interested in seeing where this product is going, thanks for posting. Is there any rough timeline when this might be generally available?

He has made no formal announcements nor made any commitments. But I know he wants to release it soon. My gut says that means sometime in this calendar year.

I just used it for a benefit performance the last couple of weekends. And while I did have one issue that popped up, once that was solved it worked very well.
